Wortham Center – At the Heart of Houston
The Wortham Center stands as a monument to the generosity of Houston’s foundations, corporations, and individuals and is a symbol of the heart and spirit of Houston. The Wortham Center was recognized as the most significant new opera and ballet house in the nation upon its original completion in 1987.
Continuing the Family Legacy
Tom Bellows, son of Warren S. Bellows, Jr., joined the company in 1978 and was President from 1987 until his death in 2007.
One Shell Plaza – The World’s Tallest Lightweight Concrete Structure
Completed in 1971, One Shell Plaza. It was the tallest concrete building in the world at the time it was built and is still the world’s tallest lightweight concrete structure.
Opening Night for the Original Alley Theatre
Bellows completed the original Alley Theatre in Downtown Houston in October 1968. By opening night, November 26, 1968, more than 20,000 subscriptions had been sold!
Controlling Glare on Tenneco Building
In 1963, Bellows Construction completed the Tenneco Building, now Kinder Morgan. The windows are recessed from the building’s frame to control glare since all four sides of the building are exposed to sun. The building’s footprint is an exact square.
Establishing a Foundation for Future Growth
