Wortham Center – At the Heart of Houston

The Wortham Center stands as a monument to the generosity of Houston’s foundations, corporations, and individuals and is a symbol of the heart and spirit of Houston. The Wortham Center was recognized as the most significant new opera and ballet house in the nation upon its original completion in 1987.

Vice President of Safety, Tommy Lee received the first annual Ray Lambright Excellence in Safety Award from Houston Chapter Associated General Contractors of America, 1994.

2000

On February 22, 2000, Bellows was the first contractor accepted into the OSHA-Houston Chapter AGC partnering program and the first contractor in all of OSHA’s Region 6 (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and New Mexico) to be so recognized.

Laura Bellows Becomes Executive Vice President

Laura Bellows became Executive Vice President in 2007, Chairman of the Board in 2008, President in 2012, and CEO and Chairman from 2018 – present.

2009

MCRT – Specialists in Healthcare Renovation

MCRT – Specialists in Healthcare Renovation

In January 2009, Bellows opened its Medical Center Renovation Team office in the Texas Medical Center to exclusively perform renovation work for healthcare facilities and other institutions in the area. AGC – National Safety Excellence Award

Received the National Associated General Contractors of America Construction Safety Excellence Award for 2011, 2014, 2017, and 2020.

AGC National Safety Excellence – Building Division Grand Award

In 2017, Bellows won the AGC Construction Safety Excellence Awards, Building Division Grand Award. Bellows is the only general contractor in Texas to ever receive this honor.
